Family Business for Three Generations
In 1966, Robert Mather and his brother founded Mather's Improvement Service with the core tenets of hard work and customer service for their exterior home improvement company in Burlington, WI. In 1982, the company was passed over to Robert’s daughter, Chris, and her husband, Mark, who’ve shaped the company into what it is today. Today, Mark and Chris’ two sons, Matt and Ben, have taken over the family business and are dedicated to keeping the company going strong into the future.

Benjamin Zusan
Owner
Ben Zusan, like his older brother Matt, started working at Mather's Improvement Service at a young age. His first role on the clean-up crew gave him a strong foundation in the value of hard work and attention to detail. Over time, he worked his way up and is now a full-time Project Consultant. In this role, Ben meets directly with homeowners to understand their goals and help them make informed, confident decisions about their home improvement projects. He believes knowledge is power and takes pride in sharing clear, honest information with every customer. Ben’s approach focuses on trust and communication, qualities that set him apart in a field where those traits truly matter. Whether discussing roofing options or guiding a complete exterior remodel, Ben works to ensure every project reflects the high standards that have defined our family’s home improvement company for decades.
Ben frequently joins the crew on rooftops to check quality and stay involved in hands-on training. His blend of technical knowledge and field experience allows him to maintain strong connections with the entire team. He enjoys golfing, fishing, snowboarding, and volunteering with the Ski Patrol at Alpine Valley when he's off the clock. Ben and his wife, Allie, love to travel and spend time outdoors with their two dogs, Bernie and Dakota.
Matthew Zusan

Matt Zusan, the oldest of the Zusan siblings, began working at Mather's Improvement Service when he was 13. Starting on the clean-up crew, he quickly learned the importance of hard work and team effort. Over the years, Matt climbed the ranks by staying hands-on and focused on doing the job right. Today, he serves as the company’s Project Manager and Consultant. He meets with homeowners, reviews project goals, and oversees each step of the process from beginning to end. So, whether coordinating the crew or fine-tuning the final details, Matt brings a steady presence to every job. He expects high standards and ensures that the team meets them. His background in fieldwork and planning gives him the insight to spot issues before they arise and deliver results that last. Matt’s thoughtful approach and strong connection to the family business help him lead confidently and purposefully.
Matt lives with his wife and two sons in the Burlington/Lyons area. Instead of moving when his family grew, he built an addition to their home. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, visiting antique shops, and adding to his collection of antique tools. Above all, Matt values the time spent with his family. He looks forward to his sons joining him at Mather's Improvement Service, continuing the family tradition and advancing the company’s values.
