Family Business for Three Generations
In 1966, Robert Mather and his brother founded Mather's Improvement Service with the core tenets of hard work and customer service for their exterior home improvement company in Burlington, WI. In 1982, the company was passed over to Robert’s daughter, Chris, and her husband, Mark, who’ve helped shape the company into what it is today. As of 2024, Mark and Chris’ two sons, Matt and Ben, have taken over the family business and are dedicated to keeping the company going strong into the future.

Owner
As a third-generation owner of Mather's Improvement Service, Ben represents both the history and future of the company, carrying forward a family legacy that began in 1966. He started at just 13 years old, learning the business from the ground up through hands-on experience in nearly every production role. After several years as a lead sales consultant, Ben stepped into leadership when his parents retired. Today, he oversees company operations, managing crews and office staff while continuing to uphold the values of hard work and customer care that have defined the company for decades—and guiding it into its next chapter.
Despite his administrative role, Ben remains closely connected to the day-to-day work. He’s often found on job sites, climbing onto roofs, checking quality, and working directly with both customers and crews to ensure every project meets the company’s high standards. His leadership reflects a commitment not only to craftsmanship, but also to honest communication and dependable service.
Outside of work, Ben is deeply involved in the local community. He volunteers with the Alpine Valley Ski Patrol and serves as Vice President of Burlington Little League. He and his wife, Allie—owner of Burlington boutique Quotes + Cotton—stay busy raising their three kids and spending time outdoors with their two dogs.
Matthew Zusan
PROJECT MANAGER
As the oldest of the third-generation at Mather's Improvement Service, Matt has spent decades mastering his craft and helping shape the company’s reputation for quality. He began working for the family business at just 13 years old, starting on the clean-up crew and learning the value of hard work from the ground up. Over the years, he developed extensive hands-on experience across the trade, becoming especially skilled in the installation of siding, windows, doors, and retractable awnings. Today, Matt serves as Project Manager, overseeing the production side of the business and ensuring every project is completed with precision and care.
Matt is known for his detail-oriented approach and ability to communicate clearly with homeowners. Drawing on years of field experience, he helps customers understand their options and feel confident in the decisions they make for their homes. Whether he’s coordinating crews or troubleshooting on-site, Matt brings a steady, knowledgeable presence that keeps projects running smoothly and up to the company’s high standards.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, two kids, and their dog. He has a passion for working with his hands, from producing his own maple syrup each year to creating custom laser-engraved wood pieces. A proud part of the third generation, Matt continues to pour his heart into both his personal craft and the family business.
